In 2010, the IDF issued a call to action, urging the "Stop Discriminating Against Diabetes Patients" advocacy campaign. The initiative aimed to empower diabetes patients to assert their rights and responsibilities, increase public awareness of diabetes, reduce the stigma associated with the condition, and support individuals with diabetes to become the focal point of diabetes care.

The association believes in compassionate care, viewing each individual suffering from hyperglycemia with a holistic perspective and valuing their human rights. Correct terminology can also prevent individuals from experiencing fear and shame associated with the disease's name, thereby averting rejection and avoidance behaviors that might lead to missing the golden opportunity for early treatment. Emphasis is placed on accurate disease knowledge and caregiving concepts, enabling society to approach disease treatment and care with positivity and inclusivity.

We/I pledge to take the following actions to end the stigmatization and discrimination/inequality faced by diabetes patients:

  • 01. Respect all people with diabetes, using respectful and positive language and attitudes in interactions.
  • 02. Deepen understanding of the significant physical, mental, spiritual, and social harm caused by the stigmatization of diabetes.
  • 03. Courageously resist incorrect diabetes information and cease the spread of misinformation.
  • 04. Actively support and advocate for fair rights of diabetes patients in areas such as healthcare, employment, education, social insurance, policies, and laws.
  • 05. Advocate for fair treatment, support, and care for diabetes patients, opposing discrimination and inequality.

We (I) solemnly pledge to vigorously promote a diabetes-friendly and inclusive environment, actively working to eliminate the stigmatization and inequality experienced by diabetes patients.
